On Friday, January 9, people from across the VCFA community will come together for The Art of Play, a day of lectures, workshops, and hands-on making focused on the idea of play as an element of creative practice. This is the first time VCFA has ever held a college-wide interdisciplinary event during residency!An exciting slate of visiting artists will inform our playful investigations through a series of panels and one-on-one lectures. Faculty and staff will also host hands-on Let’s Play sessions, where participants will work together to make something—worlds and stories, films, presentations, and more.The Art of Play will start around 9am and last until 5pm (all times pacific), with breaks for movement and lunch. For virtual participants, the day’s activities will include:
A keynote address from Cas Holman
A panel featuring our visiting artists, discussing the possibilities of play
Breakout sessions with each of our visiting artists, digging into their areas of expertise
“Co-Op Storycraft,” a virtual, hands-on Let’s Play exploring gamification and game-based learning, hosted by VCFA alum Jewell Morton. We hope you'll join us!
